Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a logbook to record miles covered and hours travelled, and ensure that all necessary documentation with respect to freight is filled out and submitted
- Record damages and shortages incurred. In addition, make sure that all receipts are kept safe and secure
- Observe and comply with all traffic regulations – federal, state, and local
- Inspect assigned vehicle regularly to identify and repair minor faults, and to report major mechanical breakdown to our shop manager
- Assist in the loading and unloading of goods or equipment to be transported
- Communicate with the dispatcher, supervisor, or clients using wireless devices or onboard computer systems
- Ensure safe transportation and delivery of freight to designated locations
- Report any delay that may affect the timely delivery of freight to the dispatcher and client
- Pay tolls and other necessary vehicle levies
- Immediately report any traffic violations, road accidents, and damage to the freight to the dispatcher and Safety Director
Education/Skills and Specifications:
- High School Degree (preferred)
- Basic or advanced math skills
- General knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment
- Ability to work with different construction equipment/tools
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to effectively communicate with crew, contractors, and Job Superintendent(s)
- Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal
- Possess necessary communication skills in both written and verbal forms
- Must be punctual, have a strong work ethic, and maintain a good attendance record
- Must be able to work as a team on all projects
Position Requirements:
- Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Consent to authorization of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record request
- Class A CDL is required
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, as needed
- Willingness to travel/work out of town
